These outdoor activities form part of our outdoor team building, leadership and funprogrammes. The actual content of the course depends on your objectives, and our programme design.

High all aboard

High All Aboard

Description

Climb to the top of a wobbly 10m pole in teams of two, three or four and then (if you dare) perform a 'lean-back' on the top.

Learning Outcomes

Effective teamwork. Communicating clear individual and team goals, trusting colleagues to use safety systems. Asking for and receiving support.

Trapeze

Trapeze

Description

Climb to the top of a 10m wobbly pole and then jump to catch a trapeze bar. Trapeze bar is adjustable for height and fear factors.

Learning Outcomes

Personal challenge. Asking for and receiving support. Trusting team mates to keep you safe when you're 'out there'.

2-Person Trapeze

Description

As above, but two people jump rather than one.

Learning Outcomes

As above and also need for mutual support in your small team.

Abseiling

Description

Can be done on a tower or at a local crag.

Learning Outcomes

Instructor will be on the safety back-up while you lower yourself down the face. Personal challenge, facing fears. Trusting equipment.

Climbing

Climbing

Description

Can be done on a tower or at a local crag.

Learning Outcomes

Clear communication needed here. Also need for support and trust from your team.

High level ropes

High-Level Ropes (Tree or Pole-Based)

Description

A sort of aerial assault course where you must navigate yourself across different elements to complete the course.

Learning Outcomes

Mutual support and personal challenge. You can communicate your goals to the rest of the team, but then can expect help from those on the elements next to yours as you move along. Need for clear communication between you and your 'spotter' on the ground.

Zip wire

Zip-Line

Description

The traditional 'death-slide'. Slip down a wire rope on a trolley from a tree, pole or tower.

Learning Outcomes

Sheer fun! Big challenge to get to the top of the Zip Line itself! As if that's not enough, you then throw yourself off! Not for the faint-hearted!

Crate stack

Crate-Stack Tower

Description

Build a tower out of beer crates. Sounds easy? You have to stand on top of them while you build them! It can get up to 10m high!

Learning Outcomes

A powerful team building metaphor. This activity needs everything from your team: teamwork to get the tower built, communication between builders and safety people, trust in each other that the job is being done well (i.e. not the Leaning Tower of Pisa).

Jacobs Ladder

Jacobs Ladder

Description

Climb the ladder in teams of two, three or four. There's a twist in the tail though: the rungs get further apart the higher you go!

Learning Outcomes

A physically demanding challenge that needs tight team work for those climbing and also clear communication between climbers and supporters.

Low level ropes

Low-Level Ropes

Description

Navigate your way though each element to complete the course. Can be done using all sorts of extras (blindfolded, carrying tyres etc)

Learning Outcomes

Trust between climber and 'spotter' is needed here. If this is run as a team challenge then clear job understanding with team goals and a leader is necessary.
